It’s a distressing sight to see dozens of young people selling second-hand phone and accessories around the former Post Office building in Kigali City.

These young people wake up every morning to storm the streets in search for their daily bread; most of these youth are uneducated and without skills.

Now is the time for the youth to remove their hands from the pockets and join technical and vocational training institutions. They should quit blaming their meagre existence on the lack of education and skills.

Now that Rwanda has many vocational schools country wide these unskilled youth should utilise them because in today’s world everyone needs to be equipped with skills; that is the only way to fight poverty.

Remember God helps those who help themselves; no one is going to help you if you don’t help yourself first. Stop burying yourself in self pity, stand up, roll the sleeves and get to work.
