AMAVUBI STARS’ head coach Sellas Tetteh has named a provisional 25-man national team which will face Tanzania in the final qualifying round of the 2011 African Nation Championship (CHAN) set for May 1 in Dar es Salaam.
Tetteh, 2009 Fifa U-20 World Cup winning coach summoned a relatively youthful squad. The return leg will be played in Kigali on the weekend of June 5-6.
The team has Jean Luc Ndayishimiye, Haruna Niyonzima, Jean Baptist Mugiraneza and Patrick Mafisango as some of the senior players who even took part in the 2010 Nations Cup qualifiers.
The new face son the team include; goal keeper Evariste Mutuyimana (Police), defender Anwar Kibaya (Rayon Sport), Amani Uwilingiyimana (Atraco), Kalisa Mao (APR), Abuba Sibomana (Rayon Sports) and Roger Tchouassi (Police).
The Wasps today start residential training camp at La Palisee Hotel, Nyandugu and will be carrying double training sessions at Amahoro stadium until April 30 when they are expected to depart for Dar es Salaam.
The Amavubi Stars who marched into the second round without kicking a ball after their would-be opponents Eritrea pulled put at the last minute.
