City property mogul, Tribert Rujugiro’s multipurpose proposed stadium is expected to cost an estimated Frw 6 billions, the city tycoon has disclosed.

The construction of the 37.000 capacity stadium in Nyanza district in the Southern Province is scheduled to get underway early next year.

This was disclosed by the tycoon Rujugiro himself in a press conference held at his Union Trade Center (UTC) complex.
He said, "The stadium, when completed, will accommodate 15.000 seated people and 22.000 standing.”

The tycoon disclosed that when the stadium starts operations, the proceeds will go to charity foundation, he plans to start up. "This is what I want to do before my retirement,” he said.

The complex will be the first of its kind in that part of the country, which would bring the total number of standard stadiums in the country to three, after Amahoro and Nyamirambo.

And Youth, Culture and Sport Ministry Secretary General Jean Pierre Karabaranga, revealed that once the stadium is completed, will complement Amahoro national stadium and Nyamirambo artificial stadium in hosting international events.

It is not clear; however, whether the stadium will be complete in time to host 2009 CAN U-20 Youth Championship that Rwanda is to host.
