GICUMBI– A Cooperative society for Taxi motorcyclists in Gicumbi district known by its acronym as CPTMG on Wednesday donated an assortment of foodstuffs to 14 genocide orphans living under the care of Byumba Diocese Catholic priest, Didace Ruzindana.  

Speaking on behalf of the society, the coordinator, Steven Nshimiye said their cooperative society is committed to supporting genocide orphans and widows, during the ongoing commemoration period.

 "We are part of the Rwandan society feeling the harmful effects of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, which is why we have to pull resources to support genocide orphans during this sorrowful period,” said Nshimiye. 

On his part, Mgr. Ruzindana hailed the motorcyclists for their humanitarian gesture, stressing that the orphans need the support and consolation of all Rwandans.

 "These orphans are extremely happy to see you visit and render assistance to them, during this genocide commemoration period,” said Ruzindana. 

The Byumba orphanage, named "Hope for Orphans’ Life” (REVIVO) was started in 1995.

It pays school fees for survivor students on top of rendering other financial and material support to orphans under the care of foster families, according to Ruzindana. 

The head of the orphans, Teresa Musengayire, thanked CPTMG for their food donations.
