GICUMBI – Local leaders at village (Mudugudu) and Cell levels in Gicumbi district have received a donation of 70 cows, under the government’s cattle restocking program of One Cow per family.

The cows were handed over at Gicumbi stadium by the Rwanda Animal Resources Development Authority (RARDA), Director General Dr. Theogene Rutagwenda.

"The beneficiaries are poor local leaders whose cows were recently withdrawn, during the government exercise to return all cows which had been given out fraudulently,” said Rutagwenda.

He urged the beneficiaries to feed and treat the cows properly in order to generate high milk production.

"As leaders, you should set a good example by generating more milk to boost your income and fight malnutrition among children.”

The district Mayor, Bonane Nyangezi called on the local leaders to carry out their duties with dedication, saying government is committed to addressing their socio-economic needs.
