SEVEN points off the pace in the national Primus league, Rayon Sport coach Emmanuel Ruremesha knows that the MTN Peace Cup is his best chance of silverware this season. This afternoon, Rayon entertain Marines at Nyamirambo’s Regional stadium.

The Blues have gone five seasons without any silverware and it is starting to get to many fans’ heads but Ruremesha who recently signed a three month contract following the resignation of Baptista Kayiranga has vowed to put a smile on the club’s fans by winning the lucrative competition.

In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, the former Atraco number two acknowledged that keeping his job will depend on how well Rayon finish the season.

"I fully understand the fans’ frustration about the trophy drought but the team needs their support to achieve success.”
"Most of the big sides (APR, Atraco, Kiyovu and Mukura) are still in the competition so it will not be easy but we are determined to win this trophy,” Ruremesha said.

In the other day’s fixtures, Amagaju entertain Etincelles at Regional stadium while Kiyovu clash with Musanze at Kicuriko artificial turf.

On Sunday, holders Atraco play Pepiniere at Ferwafa, last year’s finalists Mukura host National University of Rwanda (UNR) at Kamena, league leaders APR host second division side ISAE, Police entertain AS Kigali while Electrogaz play second division side Muhanga.

Last year, Atraco pocketed Rwf10m after winning the event. Mukura, APR and Rayon Sport pocketed Rwf7m, Rwf4m and Rwf2.5m respectively after finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
