The story of this family is truly gut-wrenching. It really breaks my heart to know that there are thousands of stories just like this one.
I agree with him that these images can’t be ignored. If they are swept under the rug how will the next generations understand what happened?
If they, and we who have never experienced such atrocities, have no knowledge or reminders of the past how will they, or we, ever be able to work towards a peaceful future?
The horrific images of the concentration camps in Europe are readily available and even used as educational tools so I don’t think Rwanda should hide her past from the survivors and their families or the world.
As distasteful and disturbing as the images are if we aren’t reminded of what humans are capable of then we will forget and ignore the tragic history of the past.
