FORMER Rwanda national team coach Branko Tucak is among sixteen foreign coaches who have joined the race to coach Zambia’s national team-the Chipolopolo. The position fell vacant last week when Frenchman Herve Renard decided to coach Angola.

The General Secretary of the Zambia football federation (FAZ) George Kasengele told the Zambia media recently that the Croat sent in his application last week.

"We received an application from Tucak last week,” Kasengele said.

Tucak, who was in charge of Amavubi Stars between 2008 and 2009, was fired after failing to qualify the team to the 2010 Orange Africa Nations Cup which was won by Egypt.

Other names on the list include former Super Eagles striker Samson Siasia, Congo-Brazzaville coach Eddie Hudanski, Marcos Gusmao of Brazil, Mario Marinic of United Kingdom, Mamoud Guindez, Amir Alajic of Bosnia, Thomas Borann of Germany, former APR trainer Zavia Milosavjevic and John Felix Kaputa of Malawi.

Gareth Lloyd of England, Liverpool icon Ian Rush and Goran Kopunoviac have also shown interest.

Zambia got a bye in the first round of the 2010 CHAN qualifiers and will now battle South Africa in the second and final qualifying round.

The first leg will be played in South Africa on the weekend of May 21-23 while the return will be played in Zambia on June 5.
