After impressing in the Hong Kong 10s and the Nile Special fun tournament, the national rugby team-Silverbacks has landed another invitation to take part in a 7s tournament in June in the southern city of Carcassonne in France.
Silverbacks made a huge impression in Hong Kong and were in the future tipped to emulate East African giants Kenya, who are second to South Africa on the continent by former International greats Bob Skinstad (South Africa) and John Bentley (England).
The first Vice President of the national rugby federation Alex Araire told Times Sport that they will take part in the tournament and very soon the team is start training.
"We have already confirmed our participation and have started lobbying for sponsorship,” the official said.
"All these invitations are testament to how much the sport has grown in the last couple of years.” Meanwhile, the national rugby league is scheduled to start early next month.
Till date, eight teams are expected to take part and they include reigning champions Buffaloes, Lion de Fer, UNR Grizzlies, Sharks, Simba, Puma, Gorillas and ISAE.
