KAMONYI – Over 2,000 Genocide and AIDS orphans from Association Amahoro have committed to fight genocide ideology and live an upright life while fighting HIV/AIDS among the youths. The orphans made the commitment on Monday during their visit to Kamonyi genocide memorial site to pay tribute to the genocide victims.

The orphans made the commitment on Monday during their visit to Kamonyi genocide memorial site to pay tribute to the genocide victims.
"The visit was part of efforts aimed at restoring hope and show our resolve to be part of the development process,” said Emile Eugene Ndayambaje, the association assistant administrator.
The orphans said accommodation was still their main challenge and appealed to well wishers for support.
The representative of Ibuka-Kamonyi, Wellars Kayiranga, urged the group to stand firm against the challenges and be courageous to restore their self-respect.
"The youth have to use their energy to build a county free-of-genocide ideology, and lead the fight against HIV/AIDS,” Kayiranga said.
He also encouraged the orphans to be exemplary citizens and support each other through sharing experiences.
