Dr Jeanne d’ Arc Mujawamariya, the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, has called for effective family planning measures to ensure that parents bear children whom they can provide for.
She made the call while officially opening eight Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres in the Northern Province to help HIV infected, orphaned and vulnerable children last week.
"We all want children…but it’s better to produce those we are able to take care of, give enough parental care and education,” she said.
The ECD centres will accommodate and care for children below the age of six in the districts of Musanze, Burera, Rusizi and Nyamasheke.
This is an initiative by the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion that is implemented by Food for the Hungry and Strive Foundation.
