NORTHERN PROVINCE

MUSANZE — The minister of foreign Affairs Dr. Charles Murigande has asked University dons to improve the country’s image abroad by correcting distorted historical facts about Rwanda.

Addressing lecturers from the National University of Rwanda [UNR], attending solidarity camp [Ingando], at Rwanda military academy -Nyakinama, Dr. Murigande, challenged the dons to uphold and impart right facts to their students; by refuting all the negative ways that taint the country’s image.

He noted that despite the complicity of France in Rwanda’s genocide and severed diplomatic relations, Rwanda was willing to mend relations with France if they appreciated their role in the Rwandan Genocide.

Over 70 lecturers are attending the two-week solidarity training.

While discussing the genesis of Rwanda-France diplomatic impasse, the lecturers accused France of their political and media campaign to tarnish Rwanda’s image.

They also castigated her continued move to provide safe haven to genocide suspects.

Prof. Paul Rutayisire, one of the participants, appealed to the government to make the mucho Commission report public for ‘Rwandans and the International community to know the role of France in Rwanda’s Genocide.’

Dr. Aloys Ruzibiza, also of UNR, suggested the need to fine all who will be implicated in genocide crimes.
