Everyone has done wrong in their lives and this is sin- doing wrong means breaking God’s law. Maybe you have never stolen, abused or disobeyed your elders. But the Bible says that all have sinned and broken God’s law. By lying, fighting, not obeying mummy and daddy and not loving God are all sins.
God hears and sees all the sins we do. According to the Bible, our sins separates us from Him and will keep us from going to His beautiful home in Heaven someday.
Because God loves you so much, He sent His own perfect son Jesus to Earth to take the punishment for your sins and the sins of the whole world.
Jesus gave His life for you by dying on the cross. He was buried and after three days God made Him alive again. God has told us all this in the Bible (I Corinthians 15:3-4).
God also tells us that because of what Jesus did, we can have all our sins forgiven and receive the gift of eternal life- a new clean life that will last forever (John 3:16).
Because of this free gift of forgiveness, we are all called to forgive all those who have wronged us. We should forgive because we are forgiven.
Whether you are a Christian or not forgiveness is important if you want to grow into responsible citizens of Rwanda. As you read this week’s issue on unity, all children should remember that we are one as Rwandan’s and we have to work together.
