RWAMAGANA — Atleast 1364 out of 1480 police officers recruited last year were on Monday passed out at Gishari Police Training School, after completing close to sixteen months training.
Amidst cheering from relatives and friends the group matched in a coordinated parade before several dignitaries who turned up to witness the ceremony. Government high ranking officials, Police and army officers and members of parliament graced the function. About 194 of them were females.
Presiding over the function, Minister for Internal Security, Sheikh Mossa Harerimana urged the new officers to maintain the credibility attained by the Rwandan Police. He warned that who ever would break the code of conduct would face the long arm of the law.
"You are all aware of the credibility the Rwandan National police have maintained over time. Because of this trust the Rwandan Police have been invited to help in maintaining order in countries like Ivory cost, Haiti and now in Sudan. You must maintain this credibility,” Harerimana said, adding that the government would not tolerate indiscipline cases.
He cited an example of more than 100 police officers who were recently expelled from National Police over indiscipline.
Commissioner General of Police, Andrew Rwigamba also urged the group to combine discipline and work saying, police had enough workload which requires discipline and sacrifice.
