RESTORATION Evangelical Church (REC), Remera, is renovating houses of eight families in Kimironko under the church’s new Restoration Voice Program aimed at improving its social responsibility.

About 100 Christians from the church, including qualified civil engineers, are taking part in the exercise.

According to Gisele Ihuzo, the team from the church will fix the ceilings, windows, doors and ventilators. Others include outside latrines and bathrooms.

"They have come at the right time for sure, because we did not know how or when we would ever fix these things. They have given us hope and a sense of living,” Dorothy Kantarama, one of the widows, told Sunday Times
"We also had a major problem of mosquitoes.

I have just finished my treatment for malaria, but since windows and ventilators have been fixed, we are hoping for the better,” she added.

Speaking to the Sunday times, Pastor Joshua Masasu said the new Restoration Voice program which begun recently will be an annual commitment which is designed in their mission as a church’s calling.

According to Masasu, the church recently decided to start a ten-day twenty four hours of praying for the country. In these ten days, social activities like giving clothes, food, counselling and construction services to Genocide survivors would be carried out.

He also said that church members managed to contribute over Rwf 5 million towards this year’s Restoration Voice program.
