LOCALS will have a glimpse of Brazil’s volleyball talent in the upcoming genocide memorial tournament.

On top local clubs, the annual event scheduled for June 5-6 will also attract foreign clubs from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Brazil according to Gertrude Kubwimana, the executive secretary of the local volleyball federation (FRVB).

Last year, APR trounced old foes Kigali Volleyball Club in the men’s final while Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) edged Kampala City Council (KCC) in the women fray.

The tournament is aimed at commemorating players and the general volleyball fraternity who were massacred during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis.

Volleyball activities are currently on hold due to the on-going mourning period.
