Rwanda  Revenue Authority (RRA) handed over a personalised number plate to Miss Rwanda 2009, Grace Bahiti in a ceremony that was held yesterday at their headquarters in Kimihurura.

The Commissioner General, Mary Baine graced the occasion and congratulated Miss Rwanda, as she presented to her a personalised number plate, branded ‘RMISSRW’.

The Director for Taxpayer Service Department, Gerard Nkusi Mukubu, was present and said that personalised number plates were not for everyone but only a chosen few, who could afford to buy them at Rwf 2 million.

However, Nkusi encouraged people to buy them, saying that personalised number plates are important, especially for corporate identities and branding. It takes only five minutes to own one from the time of your order.

"Miss Rwanda is a Rwandan, and an ambassador to our country. Giving her a personalised number plate will make her understand the value of paying taxes, and realize the importance of taxes to the development of the country,” Nkusi said.

The excited Bahati thanked RRA and the Rwandan government’s positive move towards supporting the Miss Rwanda project.

"I’m really so excited about this,” said the thrilled Bahati.
"This should serve as an eye-opener to all parents who deny their daughters a chance to achieve their dreams,” she added.

Miss Rwanda beauty pageant is an annual event, organised and mainly sponsored by Rwandatel.
