KARONGI – Jean Claude Kibala N’kolde, the acting Governor of DRC’s South Kivu Province has said that more joint action between the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) and the Congolese armed forces would help to wipe out the  remnants of the rebel outfit The Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR).

"As much as the issue of FDLR is still a big problem to Rwanda, their presence in our country is equally a huge challenge. A true and lasting partnership between the two countries can find sustainable solutions to these problems,” Kibala said.

Kibala made the remarks yesterday while on a one day working visit to the Western Province in which he held talks with local leaders.

After visiting Gisovu tea factory and Bisesero memorial site where over 4,000 innocent victims were hacked to death, Kibala could not hide his grief as he promised more action against the perpetrators of the genocide who are holed up in the DRC.

"I have no words to express the horror that occurred during 1994 and judging from the reports of random attacks back home, I have no doubt that the struggle to fight the perpetrators who are currently hiding in our country should get stronger”, the Governor added.

On his part Western Province Governor Celestin Kabahizi welcomed the initiative of his Congolese counterpart saying that the good relations would further strengthen cross border security.
