NYAGATARE – Local leaders in Nyagatare district have been called to be more vigilant ahead of the sixteenth commemoration of genocide against Tutsi scheduled tomorrow.

The call was made on Monday, during the meeting between the District Mayor and local leaders at both cell and sector levels.

‘Cases of insecurity tend to happen during this period…we need your support  and responsibility to tighten security in your areas,’ he said.

The Mayor also reminded local leaders that this year’s commemoration activities will be carried out on Umudugudu level and urged every leader to participate in various forms of dialogue that form part of the commemoration.

‘Every leader here will play a role in participating in dialogues,’ he said.

The district Police Commander, Supt. Edward Kayitare, told participants that Police will not tolerate any one who will attempt to cause insecurity during commemoration week.

‘Police is ready to fight any form of insecurity that will be caused during this week. You should also help us to exchange information on related cases in your areas,’ he said.
