NATIONAL University of Rwanda (UNR) maintained pressure on reigning champions and table leaders APR after Saturday’s straight sets (3-0) victory over Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC).

Despite pushing the varsity side all the way in the opening set (26-28), KVC ran out of steam in the second (18-25) and third sets (20-25).

Victory moved UNR to 19 points, three adrift of APR, who kept their unbeaten run intact after a straight forward win (3-0) over debutants GSOB at Camp Kigali.

Alain Ngoga and Bosco Mutabazi (libero) were the architects of UNR’s win and the side’s Coach Fidele Nyirimana reckons that it was important for them not to slip up.

"It was very important for us to win the game because we stayed in touching distance of APR. Now we need to keep our momentum in the remaining games and see where we finish at the end of the first round.”

In the women fray, champions APR kept their winning streak going after a 3-0 set victory over UNR while Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) thumped Ruhango 3-1 to preserve their second spot.
