KCC won by seven wickets

Kigali Cricket Club became the first club to qualify for the inaugural MM industries 20/20 final after Sunday’s seven-wicket victory over an in-form Right Guards side.

KCC‘s medium fast bowlers Jasat Mohammed and Ayaaz Khan picked seven wickets between themselves to restrict Guards to a low score of 87 runs.

In reply, the four-time Sulfo league champions chased down the target in 15.2 overs and for the loss of only three wickets.

Gopal Reedy masterminded KCC’s chase with a classic 22 runs that included three fours.

The victory pushed KCC at the top of the table with twelve points; two ahead of Guards and Challengers who are jointly placed second on the table with ten points.

"It was a must win game for us if we had to be in the final. The boys were outstanding in the field and the batting was excellent too. We are now concentrating on the final,” KCC’s Captain Jasat Mehboob noted.

According to the Rwanda Cricket Association Secretary General Jasat Mohammed, It is likely that Guards and Challengers will play a decisive game to determine who joins KCC in the final.

"Calculating averages of these clubs is one way of determining who moves on to the final but I think playing a decisive game is the more likely option for RCA,” Mohammed said.
