Sexuality is a very sensitive issue in that most parents shy away when their children tend to ask or make comments about Sex. The debate over sex education at home has been on going for the past several decades.

Sex Education, which is sometimes called Sexuality Education, is the process of acquiring information and forming attitudes and beliefs about sexual identity, relationships and intimacy.
It’s also about developing young people’s perceptions so that they make informed choices about their behavior, and feel confident and competent about acting on these choices.
Teenagers tend to look up for sex related information on Websites and in Magazines or among peers who may not necessarily be better informed.
One would imagine that parents or guardians at home should be in a better position to provide the children with first hand information.
Without guidance, children are prone to falling victim to predators that will misguide them into making decisions that they may regret for life when they end up with unintended pregnancies, exploitation since they are usually naïve and contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
I interviewed different people and
below is what they had to say:
Adelit Nsabimana (Student)
It’s appropriate if children are educated by their parents due to the various effects that arise when Sex ‘goes bad’.
Justine Kyomugisha (Parent)
Parents are the best people to educate their children about Sex because they are the ones who are affected most incase something happens to them.
Jean Claude Gasigwa (Tennis Player)
We love our parents’ trust and believe in what they teach us so when they teach us about Sex they uncover several mysteries hence Sex education at home is appropriate.
Sauda Mwiza (Cashier)
In Traditional African Society parents would teach and train their children on how to handle sexual issues in marriage but today it’s the opposite since they are after their careers than their social life thus high rate of divorce.
Joy Karungi (Business Lady)
Sex education at home is appropriate as a way to fight the spread of HIV AIDS and its related problems to society.
