Easter lunch

Easter is a very special gathering time for many families. Families celebrate traditional recipes, and church services are the important features of Easter. Easter is the most joyous holiday in the Christian calendar and most people tend to make the occasion memorable.

There are so many activities related to Easter and we are not to be left behind. I remember how we used to celebrate Easter back in the days when we were young.

My mother being a staunch catholic, Easter has so much meaning; she observes her fast religiously until Easter Sunday when she breaks her fast at midnight with oxtail soup.

Other families also have their own way of celebrating Easter. On Easter different kinds of foods is prepared and we celebrate with friends and family, not forgetting the most unfortunate members of our society.

This year you can have a wonderful Easter celebration by experimenting on new foods, and spice up by putting fresh flowers on the table, decorate with spring colors, your best china, crystal, and linens, and enjoy the meals with family and friends.

EASTER LUNCH
Easter is a great time to gather together friends and family and enjoy the very best food and wines. Make Sunday lunch something special by mixing and matching your favorite foods.

Grilled chicken, roasted fish, vegetable rice, roast potatoes or roast lamb. Salads and vegetables should not miss on the menu either.

There is usually extra food during the festive season, but is it wise to eat in moderation so as to avoid stomach upsets and blotting. Children too should be watched out. Enjoy your Easter!

EASTER BREAKFAST
There is no Easter without eggs, and they can be prepared in many different ways.

Eggs: One can prepare hard boiled eggs, Spanish omelets or scrambled eggs.
Breads: Whole wheat bread should not miss on your table, French bread or croissants.
Meats; bacons, sausages and hams
Beverages:  tea or coffee
Fresh drink: juice
Fresh fruits should also be part of your breakfast.

EASTER DINNER
After so much eating during the day, few people can manage to eat again a heavy meal for dinner. If there are children in the family, then it is important to prepare snacks for them so that they don’t go to bed on empty stomachs, since all the food they would have eaten during the day is spent out on the energy they use running around.

If there are left over’s, they can be warmed and be eaten, if there are no leftovers pie’s can serve the purpose since they are easy and faster to prepare.
