NYAMASHEKE – Four classroom blocks worth Rwf6.3 million which were constructed by residents to support the 9-Year Basic education programme at Remera Primary and Secondary School in Nyamasheke district, were yesterday commissioned. 

Also commissioned were eight toilet units.
"The rate at which the residents supported the construction of these classrooms is evidence that much can be achieved with unity and hard work,” said the school’s head teacher Théophile Habakaramo. 

Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, the district Mayor advised residents never to rest until they build the dream school they need for their children.

He also thanked the residents for their contribution which he said contributed to the recent district’s good ranking in performance. 

"Nyamasheke was ranked first in the Western Province, and this is something to celebrate and keep going,” he said. 

Remera Primary and Secondary School is an Anglican school which started with only 300 students, but the number has risen to more than 800.
