Meddy and The Ben are enjoying a fully paid tour in South Africa. On Friday March 26, they travelled to South Africa and have since received maximum VIP treatment and visited numerous amusement centres, including Rhino and Lion Park in Johannesburg.
This comes after Meddy and The Ben were voted the winners in different categories during the 2009 Rwanda Art Awards.
On arrival in Johannesburg, they held a press conference and on Saturday performed at Blue’s Room Hotel.
They toured the country together with Aimable Kubana, the CEO of Rwanda Art Awards.
However, according to Kubana, the duo were expected back in Rwanda on March 29, but only Meddy returned, while The Ben was staged behind marketing his music and signing contracts with different South African artists. He is expected to return on Friday.
Kubana encouraged other Rwandan artists to strive and win prizes, since they are ready to reward their efforts.
"This should be an example to other artists, that there are prizes for best performers. What they need to do is focus and produce quality music,” he added.
RwandAir provided the return air tickets and the Rwandan Embassy to South Africa, in collaboration with the Belgium Councillor to South Africa, Paul Mees hosted them.
