The 3rd East African Community Investment Conference, scheduled to start April 27 in Kampala Uganda is expected to attract various political leaders and members of the business community from the EAC bloc.
In a statement released yesterday, 2000 delegates will review the investment outlook of the region and discuss investment opportunities. The World Bank’s EAC’s Doing Business Report 2010 will also be launched.
This year’s conference under the theme EAC Common Market: The Preferred Investment Destination for Expanded Opportunities, will also discuss issues to do with climate change, food security, commercializing agriculture and competitiveness.
"In keeping with a tradition that has earned the conference popularity and respect since its inception, the event shall showcase the various investment opportunities that EAC offers, including the possibilities of joint partnerships, direct investments, industrial growth and economic development” the statement reads.
The statement also reveals that, the EAC Investor of the Year Awards will be launched to recognize and encourage cross-border investors in order to strengthen the bonds of integration and reward the best performances in the business community.
The EAC Investment Conference is an annual event held on rotational basis in the EAC Partner States. The inaugural conference was hosted by Rwanda in 2008.
