Editor, I’m glad that Rwanda is heeding a request from the UN to contribute prison warders to the earthquake devastated nation of Haiti. This decision follows a UN Security Council resolution to enlarge United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), requesting member nations to send prisons personnel. The Commissioner General of the National Prisons Services, Mary Gahonzire, said that four senior prison warders would be sent in the first phase.
Editor,
I’m glad that Rwanda is heeding a request from the UN to contribute prison warders to the earthquake devastated nation of Haiti.
That nation has gone through so much, and I really appreciate that Rwanda is pulling its weight internationally.
I love the fact that, despite the international community’s betrayal of Rwanda, we have not turned our backs and hidden in our shells.
But have instead taken a leading role in places like Darfur and now Haiti, where Rwanda currently has police personnel serving in Haiti.
