Rwamagana- Police in Rwamagana Friday destroyed over 90 grenades discovered by farmers attending their gardens in various parts of the Eastern Province.

According to security officials, the grenades were left behind in the communities during the war and posed great danger to the community.

"Most of these were discovered by people in their gardens…we then gathered them for destruction. We shall continue to eliminate such weapons,” an officer said.

Geoffrey Mushaija, the Executive Secretary of Rwamagana District, said that the weapons had been injuring or killing people, especially children in villages.

He said that children were maimed by grenades whenever they unknowingly played with them.
