EMMANUEL Ruterana’s campaign at the on-going Kenya Golf Open went from bad to worse after yesterday’s frustrating round of twelve-over par 83 at the Par-71 Muthaiga golf course.
It was the worst score of the day and left the Rwandan professional golfer third from the bottom with an aggregate score of 158 over two rounds.
Having returned 75 on Thursday, the 26-year-old needed to level the course at worst to stand any chance of making the cut.
But things did not fall in place and now has to wait for next year to have another short at the lucrative tournament where Rwf147.5m will be dished out in prize money after Sunday’s final round.
Meanwhile, homeboy Ali Kimani had reason to smile after taking control of the leader board with a stunning round of six-under par 65.
Coupled with his day one score of one-under par, the Kenyan climbed 24 slots up the table.
Bernd Ritthammer of Germany and the English duo of Robert Dinwiddie and Oliver Fisher are tied in second place with 137.
