A Rwandan environment engineering firm has scooped an International Star for Leadership in Quality (ISLQ) award, one of the most prestigious international awards given to companies worldwide for outstanding work.
Air Water Earth, Rwanda (AWE) SARL which specialises in Environment Impact Assessments (EIA), waste water and solid waste management, was rewarded in the Gold category for ‘outstanding service achievement, perseverance and leadership in excellence and quality.
According to Kenezio Kayima, the Managing Director of AWE Rwanda, the company will officially receive the award at a ceremony in Paris on April 19.
"We acknowledge receipt of this award on behalf of our country. I can equate it to our sporting achievers bringing home Olympic Gold Medals for Rwanda,” Kayima said in an interview with The New Times.
"To qualify for, and claim this sought-after this award, independent assessors stringently tested our services and the quality of final work offered to our clients who include the government.”
The award is given AWE’s outstanding EIA audits, air and water pollution control, occupational health and safety as well as site remediation and cleaner production.
The exclusive Business Initiative Directions (BID) International Trophy for quality has been awarded to deserving manufacturers worldwide since 1986.
AWE Rwanda was chosen ahead of entrants from 178 other countries.
Kayima said that companies qualify for the award on merit, adding that past winners nominate eligible firms.
