It’s amazing just how situations can change. A few months ago Joseph Ntawangundi was causing a raucous.
When he got arrested on Genocide-related charges he railed against the alleged injustice of it all.

The former Principal of EAVE-GITWE, an agro veterinary college, was arrested in February, and after weeks of claiming that he was a victim of mistaken identity, yesterday finally came clean and confessed.

In a letter he wrote to the court, he admitted the charges and asked for forgiveness from the court for wasting its time by disowning his identity.  He even sought forgiveness from the woman he abandoned at Benaco refugee camp in Tanzania.

I think he did the right thing. For there to be true healing and reconciliation, there must be a confession and an apology. Instead of lying to all and sundry, it’s a lot better if one tells the truth.

That way, you can remove the burden in your heart and lift the burden in other peoples as well. Because when you apologize, you give the victims the chance to forgive and move forward with their lives.
