The new Cecafa president, Leodegar Tenga is not a happy man due to poor turn out of fans to on-going Senior Challenge Cup.

Tenga who has tried his best to lure fans to come said on Saturday that the poor turn out of fans has been attributed to poverty.
Tenga, who is also the chairman of the Tanzania Football Federation, said that organizers have tried to charge reasonable amount at the gates so as to encourage fans to come but this system has failed to work though.

Tickets are ranging from a high of Tsh20, 000 (Frw10.000) to a low of TSh1, 000 (Frw.500). 

However, the event has been marked by poor turn outs at the stadium. It is only when the hosts, Kilimanjaro Stars are playing that the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam records capacity crowds. 

All other matches have been greeted by near empty stands, a situation that regularly confronts African tournaments including the prestigious African Cup of Nations where organizers are unable to sell tickets for matches not involving the home team. 

Tenga is however confident that once promotions are held, more people will be attracted to come to the stadium.

"When GTV starts to broadcast live matches at the start of the quarter finals, people will be attracted to the ground to watch for themselves,” Tenga said.

Satellite Pay television station GTV will broadcast live all the quarterfinals, semis and final of the tournament.
