RWAMAGANA – Officials of RECO-RWASCO in Rwamagana district confirmed on Tuesday that they have finished fiber optic installations in the area, bringing to an end the persistent power cuts.

The company’s Rwamagana branch manager, Désiré Kayiru, said the new system will increase efficiency in detecting power flaws and re-connecting breakdowns. 

"We shall now be able to detect any power breakdown or interference from here…this will increase our efficiency in serving the people. Optic fiber is also important for internet connection,” he told The New Times. 

Kayiru added that the company was making access to power easier, disclosing that customers can now be connected to water and electricity after making a down payment. 

"We connect people at a user friendly agreement, where they pay in small installments …you no longer need to have millions to get connected,” he said. 

Bertin Nzeyimana, the branch’s chief technician, said after the connection, residents should be assured that there will be no more power cuts.
