National volleyball team named

AFTER a series of training sessions, Rwanda’s Brazilian volleyball coach Paulo de Tarso has named a 21-man national squad for the upcoming Nile basin tournament in Cairo, Egypt. Reigning league champions APR and National University of Rwanda (UNR) form the bulk of the team with a combined eleven players.

AFTER a series of training sessions, Rwanda’s Brazilian volleyball coach Paulo de Tarso has named a 21-man national squad for the upcoming Nile basin tournament in Cairo, Egypt.

Reigning league champions APR and National University of Rwanda (UNR) form the bulk of the team with a combined eleven players.

KVC has three players; St. Joseph Kabgayi has two while KIE, UNATEK, GSOB and College Inyemeramihigo contribute one each. Former UNR and APR setter, who now plies his trade in France, is also part of the team.

Ahead of September’s CAVB Africa Nations Championship, the team will undergo an intensive training camp in Brazil, one of the world’s top volleyball nations.

According to Gertrude Kubwimana, an official with the national volleyball federation (FRVB), the team will have two training sessions in Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro between July 24 and August 18.
