THE battle for top flight playoffs was thrown wide open on Sunday when National University of Rwanda (UNR) defeated Muhanga 2-1 in Huye to reduce the gap between the first four clubs to only two points.

The top two clubs in each group qualify for the playoffs where they then play each other to determine the top two who will get promoted to the Primus National League.

With two matches to go, the race for the top two slots in Group B will go down to the wire after Interforce’s 2-2 draw with La Jeunesse.

Muhanga, Interforce, La Jeunesse and UNR are now separated by two points.

In other matches, Espoir and Union won against Stella Maris and ISAE 2-1 and 1-0 respectively.

In Group A, Nyanza lost ground after a 0-0 stalemate with Etoile de l’Est, while Kibuye moved within two points of Nyanza with a 2-0 win over bottom placed Zebres.

Intare defeated Aspor 2-0, while Sorwathe held Pepiniere to a 1-1 draw.
