Teachers’ co-op holds General Assembly

The Savings and Credit Cooperative for Rwandan teachers (UMWALIMU SACCO) yesterday held its general assembly in Kigali. According to the Acting General Manager of the cooperative, Robert R Asiimwe, the high level meet attracted over 300 teachers from across the country.“We invited 10 teachers from each of the 30 districts to attend the general assembly on behalf of all the other members countrywide,” Asiimwe said.

The Savings and Credit Cooperative for Rwandan teachers (UMWALIMU SACCO) yesterday held its general assembly in Kigali.

According to the Acting General Manager of the cooperative, Robert R Asiimwe, the high level meet attracted over 300 teachers from across the country.
"We invited 10 teachers from each of the 30 districts to attend the general assembly on behalf of all the other members countrywide,” Asiimwe said.

He explained that the meeting was aimed at exchanging ideas on various issues intended to devise mechanisms of developing the teachers cooperative and jointly addressing the challenges they face.

This is the ninth general assembly since the cooperative was formed and according to Asiimwe, the assembly is also a platform through which the board of directors address or submit its annual report to the members.

UMWALIMU SACCO cooperative is a government initiative aimed at giving teachers easy access to loans as a means of empowering them towards uplifting their social-economic welfare.
