AS KIGALI failed to widen their lead at the top of the table after yesterday’s 1-all draw against 2008 champions and title rivals APR at Mumena.

The military side scored first on 38th minute through striker Annet Nacimbugwe despite playing second fiddle to the champions for most of the first half.

In the second half, AS Kigali’s leading goal scorer (13 goals) Mefya Hakizimana missed a host of chances but the Kigali City Council side’s constant pressure finally paid off on the 67th minute when defender Claire Mukamusoni headed in her own net to level the tie.

With two games to wrap up the first round, AS Kigali Coach Grace Nyinawumuntu is now bullish that her team is in a good position.

"They (APR) are our major threats but the fact that they could not beat us puts us in a good position of defending the title.”

In other matches, Aspej were held to a 2-all draw by Muhoza, Rambura lost 3-0 at home to Ruhango, while Bugesera defeated Les Lionnes 2-1.
