Saturday

Tunisia 3-1 Rwanda (25-13, 21-25, 25-22, 25-15)

Egypt   3-0 Kenya (25-11, 25-11, 25-19)

RWANDA crumbled to their second consecutive defeat at the World Youth Olympic Volleyball Games qualifiers yesterday.

The junior volleyballers were no match for their Kenyan counterparts as the latter sailed home in straight sets at Cairo’s Complex stadium.

For Kenya, it was a good comeback after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat against African giants Egypt (25-11, 25-11, 25-19).

Paul Bitok’s side also tasted their first defeat on the same day after a thrilling 3-1 set defeat against Tunisia. With sets level at 1-all (25-13 & 21-25), the North Africans out-muscled Rwanda in the third set (25-22) before wrapping up the game with a 25-15 fourth set victory.

The game which lasted 104 minutes is one of the most exciting so far.

Like in the first game where Rwanda made light work of DRC, Feza Izabayo was still on target for the inexperienced side as she finished joint top scorer with Tunisian Maroua Boughanmi (16 points).

In Saturday’s other game, DRC swept aside South Africa in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-9).
