The 30th edition of the GTV Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup has accredited a record 194 journalists. 

This was revealed by Cecafa press official Finny Muyeshi noting that this was the biggest press attendance the tournament had experienced in its history.

This year’s tournament consists of journalists from a collection of nationalities, obviously including those from the 11-country Cecafa region but also from international broadcasters like British Broadcasting Corporation and Voice of American.

Obviously, Tanzania as hosts have the largest press here with about 150 accredited personnel.   Uganda is also represented by various journalists from the print media while Rwanda is only represented by this reporter from the New Times daily paper.

Kenya has strong representation from the leading daily in the region, the Daily Nation and its rival the East African Standard. 

The radio broadcasting department is also well represented with the names of the commentators reading like a Kenya "A” team list of watangazaji wa mpira. 
Jack Oyo Sylvester "Kaka Jos” of KBC Radio, the Citizen Radio double team of veteran Mohammed Juma Njuguna and Torome "Double T” Tirike, and another old horse, formerly with the national broadcaster but now with Radio Umoja, Ali Salim Manga, have all set up base in Dar to keep their respective football listeners glued to their radio sets for live broadcasts.
