The Amavubi Stars head coach Josip Kuze flew to Arusha yesterday to watch bitter quarter-final rival group C fixture between Sudan and Ethiopia in the GTV Cecafa sponsored tournament.

The Croat who is preparing the national team to battle any of Group C toping team wants to use this game to know the type of players he will meet once the quarter-final stage unfolds next week at Dar es Salaam national stadium.

Kuze is poised to meet either Zanzibar which has already booked its place in the last eight of this year’s lucrative championship.

"We are likely to face Zanzibar or the winner between Ethiopia and Sudan thus watching their fixture is another method of preparing Amavubi team to over come the quarter final stage next week,” Kuze said.

Zanzibar defeated Ethiopia on Thursday to temporarily to lead Group C with four points; one point was earned from their 2-all draw against Sudan.

Amavubi team is leveling six points with Uganda Cranes in Group B. Both teams conceded three goals. Uganda Cranes stand the chance of leading the group basing on head to head against Rwanda.  Still in group B, lights weights Eritrea defeated Uganda Cranes 3-2 on Friday. Elman Yeamukibora notched a brace with Medhane Aghade sealing the score. Danny Wagaluka and Ronald Muganga scored consolations goals for Uganda Cranes in match where Uganda finished with nine men after St. George custodian Hannington Kalyesubula and Tony Mawejje were red carded.

The other Group A battle, Kenya earned their first victory in the group stage phase by a 2-0 defeat over pointless Somalia. Meanwhile, the ongoing Cecafa tournament will resume on Monday, paving way for the start of the competitive and thrilling quarter-final stage which will be played on artificial turfed stadium national stadium in Dar es Salaam.
