KICUKIRO - The Minister of Sports and Culture, Joseph Habineza, has urged other potential partners to associate themselves with sports.

The minister was speaking yesterday during the signing of a three year sponsorship deal for National Football League between Bralirwa and FERWAFA at the company head offices in Kicukiro.

 "I urge all partners to associate with sports so as to develop this sector. You can’t develop without partners. With funds we can have high quality sports,”

"Other companies should emulate Bralirwa. The partnership between Ferwafa and Bralirwa will create many interesting and exciting moments of football,”

"The good thing with sports sponsorship, both parties benefit from the deal. There is no robbery because everything is stated in the contract,” Habineza said.

Habineza urged both parties to respect the contract and work together to improve the quality of football in the country.

"Bralirwa, through its brand Coca Cola, has supported the Copa-Cola interschool tournament as well as brought nearer the Uefa Champions League to Rwandans,” Habineza said, adding that they are still open to other opportunities.

The beer and soft drink maker has sunk Rwf 335m in the national league which will now be referred to as Primus National Football League for the next three years.  

The partnership will cover this year’s remaining part of the National football league and the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons.

Each year’s league will be followed by a Primus Cup tournament.

For the remaining season 2009/2010 an extended Primus Cup is planned, the "Primus pre-season Cup”, where 12 teams will play an exciting tournament during the 4 weeks, in preparation for the upcoming 2010/2011 season.
