RUBAVU – Police in Rubavu district are investigating the circumstances under which a 10- year- old albino child went missing.

The girl, only identified as Ikimpaye, allegedly disappeared on March 6.

Police has already interrogated her mother Claudine Mujawamariya, of Rubavu sector.

Sources say the child could be a victim of child trafficking.
"We have launched investigations. In this we are interested in dismantling child trafficking and child abuse cases,” Police said.

"The mother reported the matter to Police on March 15 only after the neighbours had shown concern,” Martin Habimana, the Executive Secretary of Rubavu sector said. This led to suspicions of child trafficking.
