Aime Uwimana, 33, a locally renown gospel artist, said that it was Ron Kenoly, an America gospel singer and Appolinaire (Burundian), who made him what he is today in the gospel music industry.

Aime ventured into the music industry in 1994, from Vivante Church in Bujumbura, Burundi where Appolinaire was the praise and worship choir leader.

It was then, that Aime begun developing his career by emulating Appolinaire’s style and mixing it with Ron Kenoly’s.

"These two guys, Ron Kenoly and Appolinaire were my musical mentors, because most of everything I know, I learnt it from them,” Aime said in an interview.

Aime added that by 1995, he had already known the basics in music and started Ukuri praise and worship team in Rwanda.

Today, Aime has trained many gospel musicians in vocal, piano and guitar.

He plays classic music at Kigali Serena Hotel and is often hired to perform in weddings and other functions.

Aime has four albums: "Yesu Nimuzima”, "Iminsi yose”, "Ibihe byurukundo” and "Ninjiye ahera cyane”—and two DVDs; "Ngwino Twibanire” and "Urwibutso”. He has put up a home studio and looks forward to professionalizing his music.
