AFTER today, if everything goes according to plan, local football may never be the same again….this is because the football federation, Ferwafa and Bralirwa have reached a consensus regarding the sponsorship of the national premier league division.

According to representatives of both parties, the deal is done and dusted—all that is left is to sign on the dotted lines in an occasion scheduled for today at Bralirwa head offices in Kicukiro, unless something strange happens.

After months of intense negotiations, both parties have agreed a three-year deal, worth 335 millions Rwandan Francs of which the biggest percentage goes into individual clubs.

"This is something we’ve never seen in Rwanda….am talking of the money involved. It’s a big deal that could change local football,” Ferwafa Chief Executive Office Jules Kalisa intimated to Times Sport.

"Forget about the prize money, but the amount which is going to be given to the clubs just for participating in the league is a lot. This is something new to Rwandan football, which I believe will change the game (in Rwanda) for the better.

Bralirwa’s Commercial Director, Alexander Koch also shared Kalisa’s sentiments regarding the sponsorship, which after it’s signed, will be the biggest Rwandan football has ever had.

He said, "I am told it’s (deal) the biggest ever in the history of Rwandan football, so we’re (Bralirwa) delight to be part of it.”
