Stars du Theatre, a university drama troupe, on Saturday staged a hilarious two and a half hour performance at the National University of Rwanda (NUR).
The performance was a set of ten comedies, which left hundreds of students gasping for breath.
The Director, Benjamin Bisangwa Nganji a.k.a Inkirigito told The New Times that the performance was a collection of theater pieces from plays they have acted in the past.
The different comedies addressed problems like HIV/AIDS, unplanned pregnancies, corruption and others issues encountered in the Rwandan society and particularly, at the university.
After the show, many chanted for an encore after the curtain call.
"The show was powerful, the message was passed on in the funniest way. They are a talented bunch of actors,” said one student.
According to the troupe’s Vice President, Jean-Paul Ibambe, the show was successful.
"The audience was very excited and happy and this was our aim. It’s our hope that they understood the message,” Ibambe said.
