FOUR-time Tour of Rwanda champion Abraham Ruhumuriza is concentrating his efforts on flat terrains ahead of the upcoming Tour of Morocco. Ruhumuriza who recently won the mountain climbing race in the Tour of Cameroon but still finished seventh in the general classification has admitted that he needs to double up on the flat terrain if he is to have a serious go at future international races.
FOUR-time Tour of Rwanda champion Abraham Ruhumuriza is concentrating his efforts on flat terrains ahead of the upcoming Tour of Morocco.
Ruhumuriza who recently won the mountain climbing race in the Tour of Cameroon but still finished seventh in the general classification has admitted that he needs to double up on the flat terrain if he is to have a serious go at future international races.
"I need to improve in flat terrains if I’m going to win any international races,” the 31-year-old concedes. Ruhumuriza is set to link up with his Team Rwanda mates (Nathan Byukusenge, Nyandwi Uwase, Gasore Hategeka, Nicodem Habiyambere and Emmanuel Rudahunga) in Musanze next week.
Tour of Morocco is one of the most prestigious races on the continent and is classified as 2:1 by UCI (International Cycling Union). The tour will attract cyclists from Cameroon, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Burundi, Gabon, South Africa, Eritrea, Kenya, Libya, Bukina Faso and Tunisia.
