THE Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell is confident that there is good security for the upcoming Delhi Games.

Fennel told Times Sport in an exclusive interview in Delhi recently that security has been very high on the agenda of all sporting events for some time now.

"We have had presentations from the Delhi Police and our independent security consultants and we are confident and pleased with the progress made to ensure that all participants will have a safe environment,”

"Certainly, no one can give assurances but I am satisfied that Delhi has made all the arrangements to ensure safe and secure Games,” Fennel said.

The Organising Committee of the Delhi Games chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, also added that every effort has been ensured that high security levels are underway and will not affect the spectator turnout at the venues.

Meanwhile, India is planning to include roof-top snipers, food tasters for the athletes and their families, and the closing of schools and courts to cut traffic.

Delhi police commissioner, Y.S. Dadwal said that Indian officials are working with security and intelligence experts from Australia, Britain and Canada to track terror threats ahead of the sporting events.
