Duo to under-go Aiba training camp

UPCOMING pugilists Matusi Haziza and Olivier Shingiro will have a chance to train with other elite boxers before they take part in the AIBA Youth World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan from April 20 to May 2.

The pair will undergo a training camp in Azerbaijan from April 4-20 with an aim of correcting on some of their weaknesses before the championship.

The boxing association technical director who also doubles as the national team head coach Gashugi Kananura says that the Aiba training camp is timely for the pair.

"They will definitely get a few more tips from the camp.”
The Azerbaijan event is a qualifier for the Singapore World Youth Olympic Games in August.

The championship will be staged in eleven weight categories: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, and 91+ kg. The bouts will consist of three rounds of three minutes each with one minute’s rest between the rounds.

In a related development, Burundi boxing federation has invited their Rwandan counterparts to a fully sponsored friendly bout on March 28 in Bujumbura.
