RWANDA’S Fifa accredited referee Celestin Ntagungira a.k.a Abegga will spend six weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Ntagungira sustained the injury while undergoing medical tests in Zurich late last month but remains confident that he will get the nod to officiate at the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.
RWANDA’S Fifa accredited referee Celestin Ntagungira a.k.a Abegga will spend six weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
Ntagungira sustained the injury while undergoing medical tests in Zurich late last month but remains confident that he will get the nod to officiate at the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.
"I have six weeks to get back on the pitch but I have no doubt that I will make the final referees’ test in May and the World Cup,” he said.
Ntagungira is among eight African assistant referees and four referees who have been tipped to officiate at the World Cup. The four groups of assistant referees include; Mohamed Benouza (Algeria), Nasser Abdel Nadi (Egypt), Maamar Chabane (Algeria).
Koman Coulibaly (Mali), Redouane Achik (Morocco), Manuel Candido (Angola).
Jerome Damon (South Africa), Celestin Ntagungira (Rwanda), Enock Molefe (South Africa)
Eddy Allen Maillet (Seychelles), Evarist Menkouande (Cameroon), Bechir Hassani (Tunisia)
The four centre referees are Malian Koman Coulibaly, Seychellois’ Eddy Maillet, South African Jerome Damon and Algerian Mohamed Benouza.
