LA JEUNESSE lost ground in the fight to return to the top flight after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against National University of Rwanda (UNR) at Mumena.

Despite playing in their backyard, La Jeunesse fans looked on in disappointment as the varsity side scored a goal in either half to drop to third place.

This weekend, things are not expected to get any easier for the Nyamirambo side as they battle second placed Interforce, who won 2-1 away to ISAE on Sunday.

In other Group B matches, Muhanga maintained their slim one point advantage at the top after beating Union 2-0 while Stella Maris got default points after Espoir failed to show up.

In Group A, Nyanza are still on course to finish the season unbeaten after beating Sorwathe 2-1. Meanwhile, Pepiniere moved into third place with a 2-1 win over Aspor.

Second placed Kibuye earned default points against Zebres.
